Using your Phototron Step 6: Preparing your 1/96, 1/48, and 1/16 FEED

The next step in our “Using Your Phototron” Series is preparing your 1/96, 1/48, and 1/16 feed jugs. You use these three jugs to water your plants during germination. You will want to use 1 gallons jugs of either distilled (or RO water) along with your CV concentrate.

1. For your 1/96 Feed: mix 3 tablespoons of your CV concentrate into the gallon jug and shake it up.

2. For your 1/48 Feed: Pour out 3/8 of a cup of your water and replace it with 3/8 of a cup of CV concentrate. Shake it up.

3. For your 1/16 Feed: Pour out a cup of water and replace it with a cup of CV concentrate. You guessed it, shake that one up as well.

Need a solution for LA’s Dispensary ban?

We’ve been reporting and keeping our readers up to date on legislation around the country regarding Medicinal Marijuana legislation. Some states are focusing on legalization and others are focusing on role of dispensaries. Recently, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa signed a bill that bans all dispensaries in the city of LA. The bill was also unanimously voted into place by the LA city council. Supporters of the ban claimed that dispensaries were rapidly opening and attracting crime.

Opposition to the bill is claiming that without dispensaries they will have to turn to illegal markets. Part of the bill claims that growing medicinal marijuana yourself is in fact, legal. But many feel this is too difficult and would rather pay an illegal source for their MMJ.

1. Pour all contents of the CV 65 (red labeled bottle) into R.O. water jug.
2. Cover the jug and shake
3. Label this jug CV Concentrate

Tommy Chong believes Obama will legalize marijuana to win 2012 election

Marijuana advocate and legendary comedian, Tommy Chong took some time for an interview on Fox News to announce his take on marijuana legislation and where its going. Chong had been in the news recently announcing his method of treatment for prostate cancer was cannabis (which he also discusses in this interview). But this go round he discussed the future he felt Obama would play in marijuana legalization.

The host theorized that Obama had made statements regarding deportation and gay marriage to try and pull in hispanic and homosexual vote, respectively. He then asked Tommy if he thought he may relax marijuana legislation to try and gain youth votes. Tommy thought he would have to and almost guaranteed it. “Yeah I think it’s a 100% chance. If he wants to get elected he has to legalize pot, there’s no other way.”

The host then said that voters in California chose not to legalize in recent elections to which Tommy replied that it was due to right wing money being poured into the campaign to stop legalization. He felt the medical industry didn’t want to have marijuana legalized for competitive reasons.

He wanted to see marijuana rescheduled by Obama from schedule 1 to schedule 2, which would allow doctors to prescribe marijuana for anyone.

Using your Phototron Step 4: Germinating your seeds

It’s Germination Time Folks! In this week’s “Using Your Phototron” post, it’s time to show you how to germinate your seeds now that they have been planted and placed in the Phototron.

1. Set Phototron Light to stay on for 24 hours a day

2. Water each germination cup with 1/6 to 1/3 cup of distilled or RO water. A puddle must remain in the cup for 23 hours. As the process goes on, you can start finding the exact amount of water to allow for that 1 hour empty period. The puddle should only be up to 3 inches.

Medicinal Marijuana Legalized in Connecticut

It looks the list is continuing to grow. Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy signed CT’s medicinal marijuana law into effect at the beginning of the month, which would allow residents to legally obtain the drug if a physician has determined it will help assuage the effects of a serious medical condition. The Department of Consumer Protection is now assigned the task of writing the official legislation, which is expected to be in place next tear. That increases the total to 17 states that now legally allow medicinal marijuana usage along with The District of Columbia. It’s another big step in the journey for full legalization, but don’t expect this to be all. Later this year many states will vote on the topics of legalization and decriminalization. So hopefully more good news is on its way as 2012 comes to an end.

Study shows Medicinal Marijuana does not increase teen drug use

A new study out of the University of Colorado – Denver has shown that legalizing marijuana for medicinal purposes does not increase the likelihood of teens using the drug. While we’ve heard so many opposition groups claim that legalization will only lead to our kids becoming drug addicts, it looks like data has finally arrived to prove them wrong. The study even claimed that legalization of medicinal marijuana led to a decrease in use by teens. The story has been posted on many news sources, including the Huffington Post. This kind of new data could help determine what laws and legislation is passed in this country. We’ll keep you posted on news like new states legalizing and where dispensaries are in question. Using Your Phototron: Preparing the Germination Cups and Planting Seeds (Step 3)

We’re continuing our series on how to use your Phototron. This week Cristine is going to show you how to prepare germination cups and how to plant your seeds.

1. Place sphagnum into cups – Pack the cup about a 1/2 inch below the rim, use about 6 cups

2. Spread seeds on top of the soil – use about 10 seeds per cup. Be sure to read the seed packets so you know how much soil to place above the seeds

3. Cover your seeds with an additional 1/2 inch of soil by filling the rest of the cup – Don’t pack the soil in the cup, just lay it on top of the seeds. Packing the cup will slow or stop germination

4. Place the cups inside of the Phototron – Dig a hole for each cup in the soil about a 1/4 inch deep. This is to make sure they don’t wobble around. Also be sure they are positioned in between the lamps.

5. Use a 25-watt bulb (no higher that this wattage) and place it 3 inches above the plants.

New Gentle Ban on LA Dispensaries is approved by Public Safety Committee

A couple weeks ago we posted about new legislation leading to the shut down of dispensaries in cities across the country. The ban has moved forward in Los Angeles as the city’s Public Safety Committee has voted in favor of the proposal. The proposal would shut down all dispensaries until the California Supreme Court ruled on the legality of permitting dispensaries in the state. It’s now set for the LA City Council to vote on the proposal. No date has currently been set for this vote. You can read more about the ruling here.

These new bans should start a trend in growing at home for those who need medicinal marijuana.
