Cuke Boy Update #4/25

25 Apr

Cuke boy is back and with some fantastic results. Since I’ve started my Cuke seedlings about a month ago, I am starting to see some real results. Take a look at some of these flower photos.

The reality is that this Phototron dishes out a lot of light. The new Pro T5 features both Blue AND Red spectrum high output T5 bulbs which replace the florescent bulbs from older versions of the tron, and the new Pro LED features 320 watts of Blue and Red spectrum LED lights as well as a 200 watt top mounted LED light. The light readings on the unit are equivalent of 1000 watts of HID lighting. It’s hard to beat that.

Congratulations to our First Ever Phototron Contest Winner!

23 Apr

Megan Smith of Southern California was selected at random as the winner of the Phototron Original hydroponic grow kit prize.

(PRWEB) April 24, 2012

And we have a winner. Phototron Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: PHOT) (OTCQB: PHOT), the nation’s premier hydroponic growing systems company that makes personal farming easy and accessible to everyone, has announced that Megan Smith of Southern California has won the top prize in the company’s 420 Marijuana Holiday Contest.

“My girlfriend and I are moving into a new home we purchased together on May 4, so the timing is perfect,” said Megan, who loves to cook and plans to attend culinary school. “Our backyard is half pool and half concrete patio, right up to the fence, so the Phototron will allow me to grow fresh ingredients without having to jackhammer out a spot in the yard.”

During the contest, pictures of Phototrons in different locations around the world were posted on Phototron’s Facebook page. Contestants had to guess the location and submit their answers on the Phototron website. Megan submitted entries for nine of the ten photos posted over the course of the contest period.

“Competition was intense during the contest,” said Todd Denkin, Phototron spokesperson. “Seems everyone wants a Phototron.”

Megan found out about the contest after liking the Phototron Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/phototron) earlier this year. She had wanted one for a long time, but couldn’t afford one because she and her partner were saving up to buy their first home.

Phototron hydroponic growing containers are designed to grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruits in any environment. With its ECO-Brain and Phototron Plant Nutrition line of all natural hydroponic nutrients, Phototron makes indoor gardening easy, and produces extraordinary results.

Megan plans to grow fresh cooking ingredients like tomatoes and peppers. “Fresh produce always make food taste better,” said Megan. “We are already planning to buy another one!”

Letting you know what kind of party you’re in right now

19 Apr

Welcome to the “Technology is Dope” Party, where everything is controversial, amazing, and yet absolutely needed. This past weekend Coachella goers experienced a (most likely multimillion dollar) concert production that raised a lot of arm hairs and wet some tear ducts… Tupac’s eerily live Coachella performance with Snoop Dogg. His realistic hologram made a shout out to Coachella and although a lot disagree with the exploitation of a dead artists’ powers, it proves the point that technology is moving forward whether we agree with how it’s associated/used or not. Same goes for technologies with medicines and gardening. We’ve come a long way from outdoor growing (especially with Monsanto around), and with the Feds cracking down on dispensaries it’s a blessing that we have an easy-to-use technology like Phototron to help with growing our own vegetables and medicines indoors.

Ain’t nothin’ but a gangsta growing party,

Cuke Boy Update #3

18 Apr

Starting to see some real progress this week. I know I said that Phototron makes things easy, but I wasn’t expecting all of this. The Pro series T5 and LED both feature what they are calling an ECO Brain, which is basically a computer mounted on the side of the Phototron that manages every aspect of your grow. The Brain controls the lighting, has sensors to detect water level and moisture and has a variable speed fan to control humidity and temperature levels. And built into the top of the unit is a small carbon filter. It’s a cakewalk, or should I say… Cukewalk…… cough…..

1 Day Left Until Pure Music & Sustainability Awesomeness

12 Apr

That’s right! Today is the last day of the Coachella countdown… and we’re stoked!

Despite not actually being present at the famed music festival (we’ve got our work cut out for us here in the city), we still love the vibes that Coachella is bringing this year. Their lineup (David Guetta, Avicii, Childish Gambino, etc) is one to match, but the true roots of our giddy-ness lies within their Green efforts. Coachella’s partnership with Global Inheritance provides the best way to enjoy as well as contribute to the music festival where they will feature five Green-engaging initiatives:

  1. Energy Factory DJ Mixer – A public dj setup that is powered by playground/exercise equipment. People are invited to dj if they bring enough friends to power their performance.
  2. Energy Battle Royal – Characters inspired by sustainable energy sources that will appear in battle (wrestling) this year in order to educate others about sustainable practices.
  3. TRASHed – Artfully decorated recycling bins will be placed throughout the grounds for people to use and be inspired by.
  4. 10-for-1 Program – A recycling program that stimulates and rewards the concert-goers with one full water bottle after bringing in ten empty ones.
  5. Carpoolchella – A creative transportation program that also encourages action from participants with Coachella promotions and prizes.

The performers may bring in the noise, but Global Inheritance’s programs bring in some real sound for sustainable living that we’re down for listening to. If you are missing out this year on the music and green awesomeness that is Coachella, fret not. There are numerous music festivals coming up soon that feature reputable talent and also follow the Green Sustainable Road.

Go ahead and get your grow (and groove) on,
Phototron

“Win A Phototron’ Contest Picture #4 Hint

12 Apr

This is by far our most difficult Picture Post Contest Clue, but it’s not impossible if you do some research.

Some hints are that it’s in Tokyo and currently holds 13,000 people. That should narrow it down a bit. Good Luck!

Cuke Boy Update #2

So let’s just make some things clear. My past gardening experience basically boiled down to that science experiment you ran in kindergarten where you would get a paper cup, some soil, and a random bean seed. You had to remember to water it each day (or wait until your teacher reminded you) and then measure it each week with a ruler. What’s funny is that using this Phototron actually isn’t all that different. You have your soil, some seeds, and just replace the paper cup with something that looks kind of like a teleportation chamber in a sci-fi movie. It’s a lot of sitting and watching, and the results… grow. I think I can get the hang of this. Check out my pic from this week.
