The Effects of Raw Cannabis

8 Jun

We are all pretty well aware of the typical effects associated with marijuana in both a medicinal and recreational context. But how familiar are you with the effects of raw cannabis?  Watch this video out of USCF about extensive research being done on eating or juicing raw cannabis. The data collected has shown both preventative as well as curable effects.

Changes in the Medicinal Marijuana Industry Should Encourage Growing Your Own

30 May

We’ve been seeing a lot of reports recently about new marijuana legislation and how many areas are shutting down medicinal marijuana dispensaries. The goal in each region is to eliminate profit for the marijuana industry. Below are a list of reports we have found from different areas

Los Angeles, California – While dispensaries have not been outlawed outright, legislation has passed that has made only growing your own or receiving from a licensed caregiver, legal methods of obtaining cannabis. This will be a temporary ruling until the State of California decides on legislation for the entire state.

Montana – Senate Bill 423 has been passed by both the Montana House and Senate. It is now up to the Governor to sign or veto the bill. Senate President Jim Peterson was quoted saying “I think we did the best we could, to take care of those people who really have to have it and can it themselves but the storefronts have got to go away, the money has to come out of it, law enforcement has to have an opportunity to enforce it and I think we did all of that.”

Jackson, Michigan – The Jackson City Council is considering three versions of an ordinance to regulate medicinal marijuana. Each version is a bit different, but all three would ban dispensaries. Only one of the bills would allow for growing at home.

More legislation will start to pass and expand into areas outside of just these three. Along with more legislation, will also come more of a hassle to get medicinal marijuana and for a good price. In this post on The Other Side Farms Blog, the author explains how the government is going to try and cash in money made from the industry and thus hike up prices. He also lists some other benefits of growing your own, like knowing what you are putting in your body. We also posted in the past some reasons to Grow Your Own right here on Thought Phot.

The reality is that growing your own looks to be one of the best methods to obtaining medicinal marijuana with the least amount of headache. For a long term solution in avoiding a lot of the new rules with this new legislation, try growing your own.

Gardena, CA (PRWEB) May 01, 2012

Phototron, the popular brand of hydroponic growing system, today announced its new web affiliate program that gives online businesses the opportunity to earn lucrative commissions on all Phototron sales they generate by displaying the Phototron banner ads on their websites.

Phototron is a premier indoor hydroponic systemscompany and wholly-owned subsidiary of Phototron Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: PHOT) (OTCQB: PHOT). It has been an industry leader for over 20 years with over 150,000 units sold and over 50,000 returning customers.

“Our affiliates make a great commission on every Phototron and accessory someone purchases after clicking on a banner ad or special offer they display on their website,” said Craig Ellins, Phototron’s Vice Chairman. “Since a Phototron retails from between about $500 to $1,600, this performance-based model can be a heck of a lot more lucrative than a pay-per-click model. And the more Phototrons you sell from your site, the more commission you make.”

The largest commissions can be achieved through sales of the new Pro Series Phototrons. This series utilizes Phototron’s patent pending Eco-Brain to make “growing your own” even easier by allowing growers to set it and forget it. “We made the Phototron easier to use than the original with the new Eco-Brain and now we are making it easier to buy on likeminded and industry-related websites,” said Ellins.

Phototron supplies the banner ads and backend support to get marketing affiliates started. The indoor grow cabinet industry leader also handles the entire customer experience–from billing to shipping directly to the customer to handling all customer service and ongoing support activities. All the website owner has to do is register their website, place banners on their site and when a customer clicks through to buy, they get paid.

“This is a great time to partner with Phototron,” said Ellins. “Americans are increasingly growing indoors, and the easy-to-operate, fully self-contained Phototron offers many advantages over other hydroponic systems and outdoor grow operations. We want to partner with websites who share our same consciousness about self-sustainability and pesticide-free indoor growing.

According to Ellins, Phototron’s advantages over other grow operations include:

#1 Growing Year Round
Being able to grow in a controlled environment is one of the greatest benefits of an indoor growing system. In addition to providing shelter from inclement weather like snow, frost, humidity and heat waves, gardeners can control the weather and the number of daylight hours with Phototron.

#2 Growing in Small Areas
No need to clear out a closet or a room—every Phototron hydroponic grow cabinet is only 21 inches wide and deep, so it takes up less than two square feet of indoor floor space. That means that they can be located almost anywhere, even a kitchen countertop.

#3 Protecting Plants from Invaders
There is nothing worse to gardeners than going out to harvest their crops and finding that a gopher, rabbit, or burglar literally ate their lunch. Indoor growing prevents these types of situations.

#4 Eliminating Pesticides and Contaminants
Personal indoor gardens eliminate the health risks associated with things like pesticides, E. coli and salmonella. Plants go from the Phototron to the plate.

#5 Saving Money
Phototron systems take advantage of energy-saving StealthGrow LED technology. Phototron’s vertical system produces a “quad band” spectrum of light with two bands of red, royal blue and warm white, giving the plant the light it wants and needs. It’s even energy efficient, costing on average just 20 cents per day to operate.

Requiring only standard 110 voltage, Phototron’s hydroponic grow light systems generate very little heat and last for up to five years with no degradation in performance after the first year. Phototron’s reflective panels also increase efficiency by increasing lumens without having to turn up the power.

In addition, Phototron’s smart systems take the guesswork out of indoor growing with its patent-pending Eco-Brain, a “set it and forget it” system that not only monitors the crops and optimizes plant growth; it literally teaches indoor gardeners how to grow with onscreen alerts.

Cuke Boy Update #4/25

25 Apr

Cuke boy is back and with some fantastic results. Since I’ve started my Cuke seedlings about a month ago, I am starting to see some real results. Take a look at some of these flower photos.

The reality is that this Phototron dishes out a lot of light. The new Pro T5 features both Blue AND Red spectrum high output T5 bulbs which replace the florescent bulbs from older versions of the tron, and the new Pro LED features 320 watts of Blue and Red spectrum LED lights as well as a 200 watt top mounted LED light. The light readings on the unit are equivalent of 1000 watts of HID lighting. It’s hard to beat that.

Congratulations to our First Ever Phototron Contest Winner!

23 Apr

Megan Smith of Southern California was selected at random as the winner of the Phototron Original hydroponic grow kit prize.

(PRWEB) April 24, 2012

And we have a winner. Phototron Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: PHOT) (OTCQB: PHOT), the nation’s premier hydroponic growing systems company that makes personal farming easy and accessible to everyone, has announced that Megan Smith of Southern California has won the top prize in the company’s 420 Marijuana Holiday Contest.

“My girlfriend and I are moving into a new home we purchased together on May 4, so the timing is perfect,” said Megan, who loves to cook and plans to attend culinary school. “Our backyard is half pool and half concrete patio, right up to the fence, so the Phototron will allow me to grow fresh ingredients without having to jackhammer out a spot in the yard.”

During the contest, pictures of Phototrons in different locations around the world were posted on Phototron’s Facebook page. Contestants had to guess the location and submit their answers on the Phototron website. Megan submitted entries for nine of the ten photos posted over the course of the contest period.

“Competition was intense during the contest,” said Todd Denkin, Phototron spokesperson. “Seems everyone wants a Phototron.”

Megan found out about the contest after liking the Phototron Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/phototron) earlier this year. She had wanted one for a long time, but couldn’t afford one because she and her partner were saving up to buy their first home.

Phototron hydroponic growing containers are designed to grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruits in any environment. With its ECO-Brain and Phototron Plant Nutrition line of all natural hydroponic nutrients, Phototron makes indoor gardening easy, and produces extraordinary results.

Megan plans to grow fresh cooking ingredients like tomatoes and peppers. “Fresh produce always make food taste better,” said Megan. “We are already planning to buy another one!”

Letting you know what kind of party you’re in right now

19 Apr

Welcome to the “Technology is Dope” Party, where everything is controversial, amazing, and yet absolutely needed. This past weekend Coachella goers experienced a (most likely multimillion dollar) concert production that raised a lot of arm hairs and wet some tear ducts… Tupac’s eerily live Coachella performance with Snoop Dogg. His realistic hologram made a shout out to Coachella and although a lot disagree with the exploitation of a dead artists’ powers, it proves the point that technology is moving forward whether we agree with how it’s associated/used or not. Same goes for technologies with medicines and gardening. We’ve come a long way from outdoor growing (especially with Monsanto around), and with the Feds cracking down on dispensaries it’s a blessing that we have an easy-to-use technology like Phototron to help with growing our own vegetables and medicines indoors.

Ain’t nothin’ but a gangsta growing party,

Cuke Boy Update #3

18 Apr

Starting to see some real progress this week. I know I said that Phototron makes things easy, but I wasn’t expecting all of this. The Pro series T5 and LED both feature what they are calling an ECO Brain, which is basically a computer mounted on the side of the Phototron that manages every aspect of your grow. The Brain controls the lighting, has sensors to detect water level and moisture and has a variable speed fan to control humidity and temperature levels. And built into the top of the unit is a small carbon filter. It’s a cakewalk, or should I say… Cukewalk…… cough…..
